    Description

    The Cortland County Health Department’s Tobacco Free Zone program is offering a funding opportunity to local organizations to serve populations most impacted by the negative outcomes of the tobacco industry. With guidance from Tobacco Free Zone staff, the recipient(s) will lead and facilitate community engagement work on one or more of the following initiatives: smoke-free multi-unit housing, tobacco product waste, retail environment, and/or tobacco-free outdoor areas. All proposed work must address health disparities related to tobacco use and exposure in multi-unit housing, tobacco product waste in the environment, tobacco sales and marketing in the retail environment, and/or tobacco use and exposure in outdoor spaces within Cortland, Tompkins, and/or Chenango Counties. Recipients will be authentically engaged to educate and mobilize around the tobacco issues affecting their community, creating a demand for policy change. Total Funds Available: $35,000 to be allocated up to 3 recipients Eligibility: Open to Community-Based Organizations serving Cortland, Tompkins and/or Chenango Counties Timeframe: Activities must take place between October 1, 2026 and April 30, 2027 (with opportunity for additional funding after April 30, 2027) Business enterprises awarded an identical or substantially similar procurement contract within the past five years: Access to Independence, Cortland County
