    Description

    Sealed proposals endorsed “NORTH OLD WOODWARD PAVING PROJECT - Contract #8-26P” will be received from contractors by the City of Birmingham, at the office of the City Clerk, located at 151 Martin Street, Birmingham, Michigan, until 2:00 P.M. local time, on Thursday, May 28th, 2026. The proposals will be opened and publicly read aloud at that time. Bids submitted after the exact time specified for receipt will not be considered. A pre-bid meeting will be held at the Birmingham City Hall building (151 Martin Street, Birmingham, MI 48009) on Thursday May 14th, 2026, between 3:30-4:30 pm. Bidders should meet on the 2nd floor, near the engineering department at the east end of the building. Attendance for the pre-bid meeting is OPTIONAL, but recommended for general contract bidders. General Description of Work: This project includes construction of new water main, new combined sewer, new storm sewer, new concrete curb and gutter to establish revised road geometry, new sidewalks, and removal of existing composite pavement and constrution of full-depth asphalt pavement within Old Woodward Avenue, between Oak Avenue and Woodward Avenue. Partial-depth asphalt milling and asphalt repacement within Oak Avenue is also included in the project scope. Major work items include: approximatley 1,009 linear feet of new combined and storm sewers; 1,278 linear feet of new water main; 4,755 square yards of composite pavement removal and replacement with approximately 3,800 square yards of new full-depth asphalt pavement; 1,829 linear feet of new concrete curb and gutter; 2,300 square yards of cold milling and HMA surface course replacement; 5,875 square feet of new concrete sidewalks; 1,650 square yards of lawn restoration; and other items to make a complete project. Bidders shall review and comply with all Contract Documents, and supplemental information, as defined in the Information For Bidders. Bidding documents for this project must be obtained electronically through the Michigan Inter- governmental Trade Network (MITN), which may be accessed at https://www.bidnetdirect.com/mitn. Vendors wishing to obtain copies of the bidding documents will need to register through the MITN website. Electronic versions of bidding documents will be posted to MITN starting Thursday, May 7th, 2026. The successful bidder shall be required to post bonds, and to comply with the contract requirements of the City Charter. Bids are firm, and no bid may be withdrawn for a period of sixty (60) days after opening of bids. Procurement for the City of Birmingham will be handled in a manner providing fair opportunity for all businesses. This will be accomplished without abrogation or sacrifice of quality and as determined to be in the best interest of the City of Birmingham. The City reserves the right to reject any and all bid proposals, to waive any irregularity in any of the bid proposals submitted, and to accept any proposal which it shall deem to be the most favorable to the interest of the City. A certified check or bid bond in the amount of five percent (5%) of the base bid must accompany each bid proposal.
