    Description

    The City of Nome will receive sealed bids for the NOME BELTZ HIGH SCHOOL SIDING

    REPLACEMENT at Nome City Hall, 102 Division Street, PO Box 281, Nome, Alaska 99762.

    Bids will be received at Nome, Alaska until 2:00 P.M. local time, Monday, August 17, 2026. Bids

    will be opened publicly and read aloud at 2:05 P.M. local time, Monday, August 17, 2026 at Nome City Hall.

    The principal elements of work will include:

    • This project is primarily the replacement of existing T1-11 wood siding on the upper levels of the

    walls adjacent to the roof of the one-story section of the Nome Beltz High School. The new siding

    will be prefinished with metal wall panels.

    • The Work includes removal of the existing wood siding, weather barrier, plywood sheathing, and

    batt insulation, and installation of new metal siding panels, self-healing weather barrier, plywood

    sheathing, and 5 1/2 inch batt insulation between the existing studs, together with new metal

    flashings, new window trim, joint sealants, and the removal, salvage, storage, and reinstallation of

    window canopies, mechanical hoods, and other mechanical, electrical, and accessory items

    attached to the existing siding.

    • The Work also includes replacement of insulation and EPDM roofing, and patching to the existing

    membrane, where required to complete the siding work at the base of the walls.

    A portion of the Work is on or adjacent to an EPDM membrane roof installed in 2025 that remains

    under manufacturer warranty. All Work on or adjacent to that roof shall be performed in strict

    accordance with the roofing manufacturer's requirements and details so that the existing warranty

    is preserved.

    • The Work is bid as a Base Bid with two additive alternates, as described in the Bid Schedule and

    shown on the Drawings.

    This is a fast track, expedited project. The Work of the Base Bid must be brought to Substantial

    Completion no later than Friday, October 16, 2026, and to Final Completion no later than Friday,

    October 30, 2026. The solicitation period, the submittal review periods, and the procurement of

    the metal siding panels have all been compressed in order to support that date. Bidders shall satisfy

    themselves as to their ability to meet these dates before submitting a bid.

    The OWNER has purchased the metal siding panels, panel clips, closure strips, fasteners, and

    prefinished flashings and trim for the Base Bid area in advance and will furnish them to the

    Contractor for installation. The Base Bid shall not include the purchase price of the OWNER

    furnished materials, and shall include all receiving, unloading, hauling, storage, protection,

    handling, and installation of those materials, together with all other labor, materials, and equipment

    required to complete the Work. See Section 20 of the Instructions to Bidders and Item 13.0 of the

    Supplemental General Conditions in Exhibit A.

    Bidders must be licensed contractors with the State of Alaska.

    The Nome Public Schools (OWNER), PO Box 131, Nome, Alaska 99762, reserves the right to

    reject any and all bids, to waive informalities, and to reject non-conforming, non-responsive, or

    conditional bids.

    Bid documents are available to interested bidders at the office of the City Clerk, PO Box 281,

    Nome, Alaska 99762. The contact number is (907) 443-6663. Electronic copies of the bid

    documents will be emailed free of charge. The cost for each paper copy of the Bid Documents is

    a non-refundable fee of $25 per set. There is an additional $15 shipping fee, if applicable. Bid

    Documents will be available after 2:00 P.M. Monday, August 3, 2026. Checks are to be made

    payable to the City of Nome.

    One complete set of Bid Documents will also be available for review at The Plans Room, 4831

    Old Seward Highway, Suite 102, Anchorage, Alaska 99503, (907) 563-2029, The Associated

    General Contractors of Alaska, 3750 Bonita Street, Fairbanks, Alaska 99701, (907) 452-1809, and

    at Nome City Hall.

    All bidders shall submit a cashier's check or a bid bond in the amount of five percent (5%) of the

    bid. Bid Bond to be underwritten by a surety qualified to issue bonds in the State of Alaska

    guaranteeing the signing of the contract for construction in the amount of the bid.

    Notice that the project requires compliance with AS 36.05.010, prevailing wage rates, and

    compliance with AS 36.15.010, use of local forest products required wherever practicable.

    The design architect is Evelyn Rousso, AIA of McCool Carlson Green (also known as MCG

    Explore Design).
