    Description

The firm(s) selected as the prime Contractor(s) will perform professional, technical, economic, environmental, and investigative services for the Thermal Transition and Emerging Technology Programs within the Research & Development (R&D), Energy Trading & Contracts (ET&C) and Power Generation Departments. The selected firm(s) will have the staff capable of meeting the requirements of the Programs, including the ability to perform investigations and analysis on any technology project (prospective, active and postmortem) and thus provide insights to address compliance, risks, and disputes. Additionally, the Contractor(s) must have experience supporting clients involved in litigation, including incident investigation, fire mitigation, root cause analysis, hazard analysis, and engineering detection and mitigation controls. This includes the expertise of a fire protection engineer capable of providing technical review of fire-related items, ensuring they can effectively evaluate and support SMUD’s management of potential legal issues. To the extent that the Contractor lacks specific expertise in any of the disciplines needed by the ESR&D and Power Generation Departments, a professional group of subcontractors or associate firms may be assembled to complement the Contractor’s technical, environmental, and legal expertise.
