    Description

eview current California Code of Regulations (CCR) as it relates to newly installed tie down assemblies, Engineering Tiedown Systems (ETS), Earthquake Resistant Bracing Systems (ERBS) and foundation systems for mobile homes and manufactured homes (collectively ¿MH¿). The work will also include a literature review of the performance of MH before and after June 15th, 1976, and in past earthquakes (e.g., Ferndale Earthquake (2022/2023), Anchorage (2018), Ridgecrest (2019), South Napa (2014). In addition, modeling and testing of commonly used types of bracing assemblies (minimum 4 sets of assemblies including anchors) in a lab environment and field/lab testing for the soil sample and commonly used types of soil anchors will be conducted. Utilizing this information, the project committees and working groups will develop reports of their findings, including recommended California Code of Regulations (CCR) amendment(s) for new MH installations.  Additionally, this project will allow Cal OES to work with state partners such as the Department of Housing and Community Development (HCD) and California Earthquake Authority (CEA) on requirements and feasibility analysis of implementing a statewide mitigation program for MH.
