    City of Americus Request for Proposals (RFP) Legal Services / City Attorney Representation Issue Date: January 5th, 2026 Proposals Due: January 20th, 2026 Contact: Sierra Harvey, City Clerk City of Americus Email: sharvey@americusga.gov Phone: (229) 924-4411 Introduction The City of Americus is soliciting proposals from qualified attorneys or law firms to provide comprehensive legal services and representation for the City. The selected attorney or firm will serve as legal counsel to the Mayor, City Council, City Manager, and City departments as needed, ensuring compliance with all applicable local, state, and federal laws. Scope of Legal Services The selected attorney or firm will be expected to provide, at a minimum, the following services: ¿ Serve as City Attorney and provide general legal counsel to elected officials, boards, commissions, and City staff. ¿ Attend City Council meetings and other meetings as requested. ¿ Draft, review, and revise ordinances, resolutions, contracts, intergovernmental agreements, and other legal documents. ¿ Provide legal advice on municipal operations, governance, ethics, public records, and open meetings compliance. ¿ Represent the City in litigation, administrative hearings, and court proceedings, or coordinate with special counsel when appropriate. ¿ Advise the City on employment and personnel matters, zoning and land use, procurement, and code enforcement. ¿ Provide timely legal opinions, both written and verbal, as requested by the City. ¿ Ensure compliance with Georgia law and applicable federal regulations. Term of Service The initial term may be for one (1) year, with the option to renew annually upon mutual agreement and approval by the City Council.
