RFP for 2026 Juneteenth Event Coordinator

Project Summary – Juneteenth 2026 Celebration

The Unified Government of Athens-Clarke County (ACCGov) is seeking qualified and experienced vendors to serve as the Event Coordinator for the 2026 Juneteenth Celebration to be held on Friday, June 19, 2026. This free, public event will commemorate the historical significance of Juneteenth while celebrating Black history, culture, resilience, and community in Athens-Clarke County. The selected coordinator will be responsible for organizing and managing all aspects of the event, including vendor coordination, entertainment booking, marketing and promotional efforts, logistics planning, and overall event execution in collaboration with ACCGov.

The 2026 celebration is expected to build upon the success of prior years, which have drawn hundreds of residents for educational programming, live performances, youth activities, food vendors, and a Juneteenth flag-raising ceremony. ACCGov seeks a partner who can deliver a culturally responsive, well-organized, and professionally executed event that honors the historical roots of Juneteenth while creating an engaging and accessible experience for the broader community. The ideal proposal will demonstrate strong project management capacity, creativity, logistical expertise, and a clear understanding of how to balance cultural authenticity with large-scale public event coordination.
