Vermont seeks proposals to fund AI transcription/scribe technology for rural healthcare providers to improve efficiency and quality of care under a $195M Rural Health Transformation grant.
Vermont has received a Rural Health Transformation (RHT) grant of $195 million in Year One of a five-year opportunity. The purpose of the grant is to build stronger rural health networks, improve technology and shared operations, strengthen the rural health workforce and ultimately ensure that Vermonters receive the right care at the right time for an affordable cost. The purpose of this Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO) is to provide funds to providers to purchase or lease Artificial Intelligence (AI) transcription/scribe technology, for those healthcare organizations that do not have it or wish to expand the use of or upgrade existing AI transcription/scribe technology to support rural communities. AI transcription/scribe technology has proven to increase efficiency and reduce burden in primary care sites. Providers and patients in Vermont are expressing high satisfaction with transcription/scribe technology at those practices where it is already available. Transcription/scribe devices automate an average of over two hours of daily administrative work, transcribing and processing clinician-patient conversations, producing clinical notes and follow-up materials so clinicians can focus on delivering quality care to their patients. Investing in these services will produce clinical and administrative efficiencies for providers that will lead to improvements in the quality of care.
SLED stands for State, Local, and Education. These are solicitations issued by state governments, counties, cities, school districts, utilities, and higher education institutions — as opposed to federal agencies.
