Soon, the Planning Division will have 22 sewer models in InfoWorks ICM. All models have been calibrated using permanent flow meter data within the last 10 years. The models contain all gravity sewer pipes, force mains, and wastewater pumping stations in the sewer network. The models are used to evaluate the capacity of the sewer system to convey existing and future dry and wet weather flows. Wet weather conditions are simulated under 2-year and 10-year WSSC design storms. Future flows are developed using demographic projections provided by the Metropolitan Washington Council of Governments (MWCOG). Under this Contract the Planning Division endeavors to begin a new cycle of updates to the all-pipes sewer models using updated sewer network information and recent flow meter data.
