The City of Paso Robles (City) is in the process of obtaining a Launch Site Operator License (LSOL) for the Paso Robles Municipal Airport (PRB or Airport), which is located within the City limits. The City has consulted with the Federal Aviation Administration’s (FAA) Office of Commercial Space Transportation (AST) regarding PRB becoming a licensed horizontal launch spaceport and has completed the Pre-Application process required under Code of Federal Regulations (CFR), Title 14, Part 420 of the FAA Commercial Space Transportation Regulations (Part 420).
In furtherance of this effort, the City is requesting proposals from qualified and experienced entities (Proposers) interested in providing spaceport licensing consulting services for PRB. The City is pursuing an FAA Part 420 LSOL (Part 420) to designate PRB as a horizontal launch spaceport. This effort has been underway for several years, and portions of the Part 420 license application have already received conditional approval from the FAA.
