The City of Newport News (the “City”) is seeking proposals from qualified firms (the “Offeror” or “Contractor”) to furnish the goods and/or services described herein and proposals will be received via the City’s e-Procurement Portal, OpenGov Procurement (https://secure.procurenow.com/portal/nnva), to be received no later than Friday, August 21, 2026 at 5:00 pm (local prevailing time).
The purpose of this Request for Proposals (RFP) is to establish a contract with one or more qualified Contractors for the provision of specialty service truck bodies to the City's Department of General Services, on an 'as needed' basis, in accordance with the terms, conditions and specifications of this RFP.
Before July 1, 2028, the City intends to purchase one (1) preventive maintenance and lube service body with crane, three (3) tandem axle snowplow capable dump trucks, one (1) single axle dump truck, and one (1) non-snow tandem dump truck. Following the initial purchase, additional specialty truck bodies will be purchased during the term of the Contract, including the renewal periods. The anticipated number of truck bodies of various configurations is estimated at five (5) per year, but this is not guaranteed. The actual quantities purchased may be more or less, based on the availability of funding.
The extent to which the firm demonstrates successful experience and proven capabilities in providing similar services, including but not limited to ensuring the serviceability of all mechanical systems and delivering high-quality materials and workmanship. This also includes the firm's capability to meet service requests promptly and efficiently.
Total cost of ownership, including purchase price, parts and maintenance, transportation and fuel, warranty coverage, and anticipated resale value.
This relates to proposed truck bodies other than those listed in the Scope of Work.
