    It is recommended that all biders attend the pre-bid conference; however, attendance is not mandatory.

    Sealed bids in duplicate will be received by Wharton County for furnishing all plant, labor, material, and equipment, and for performing all work required for construction of this project.  The bids will be publicly opened and read aloud at 10:00 a.m.

Wharton County is an Equal Opportunity Employer. Wharton County reserves the right to reject any or all bids or to waive any informalities in the bidding. The award will be made to the responsible bidder submitting the lowest acceptable bid. Bids may be held by Wharton County for a period not to exceed sixty (60) days from the date of the bid opening for the purpose of reviewing the bids and investigating the bidders qualifications prior to the contract award. All contractors/subcontractors that are debarred, suspended or otherwise excluded from or ineligible for participation on federal assistance programs may not undertake any activity in part or in full under this project. ## Notes A bid bond in the the amount of 5% of the bid issued by an acceptable surety, shall be submitted with each bid. A certified check or bank draft payable to Wharton County or negotiable U.S. Government Bonds (as par value) may be submitted in lieu of the Bid Bond. Attention is called to the fact that not less than the federally determined prevailing (Davis-Bacon and Related Acts) wage rate, as issued by the Department of Agriculture Office of Rural Affairs and contained in the contract documents, must be paid on this project. In addition, the successful bidder must ensure that employees and applicants for employment are not discriminated against because of their race, color, religion, sex, sexual identity, gender identity, or national origin. All Contractors and subcontractors must be cleared (not suspended or debarred) prior to any formal action authorizing the award of a contract to the Contractor.
