    Description

    Principal Features: The work generally consists of the following:

    a. Improvements to existing trickling filters, including replacement distributors, media, and ventilation equipment including fans and ductwork.

    b. Improvements to existing solids contact tanks, including associated channels, diffused air system, large bubble gas mixing system, and Non-Potable Water facilities, replacement of motorized slide gates.

    c. Replacement of existing blowers.

    d. Replacement of existing slide gates, and installation of new slide gates in the Trickling Filter Effluent Channel, Mixed Liquor Channel, and Mixed Liquor Distribution Box.

    e. Installation of energy-dissipating columns in the Mixed Liquor Distribution Box.

    f. Replacement of existing Variable Frequency Drives for Return Settled Sludge Pump Nos. 5 and 6.

    g. Electrical work required to support improvements, including 480 volt Motor Control Center, Variable Frequency Drives for blowers, and Variable Frequency Drives for trickling filter distributors, and replacement lighting.

    h. Replacement of select Heating ,Ventilating and Air Conditioning and plumbing equipment.

    i. Miscellaneous architectural repairs and improvements to the Blower Building, Odor Control Building, and Primary Effluent Pump Station.

    j. Miscellaneous structural repairs and improvements to the trickling filters, solids contact tanks, Blower Building, Odor Control Building and Primary Effluent Pump Station.

    k. Installation of electric motor actuators on existing primary effluent bypass gates.

    l. Refurbishment of the existing odor control equipment, including new odor control fan, recirculation pump, control panel, and miscellaneous instruments and refurbished wet scrubber vessel.

As the largest wastewater treatment provider in the State of Ohio, the Sewer District spans 380 square miles, serves 62 communities and one million residents, treats 90 billion gallons of wastewater a year, and manages more than 400 miles of streams. 

    In addition to its award-winning treatment plant and laboratory performance, the Sewer District's Project Clean Lake construction program will reduce annual Lake Erie pollution by 4 billion gallons by 2035, while its Regional Stormwater Management Program addresses widespread inter-community problems like flooding, pollution, and erosion.
