    Description

STATEMENT OF NEED James A. Haley VA Healthcare System Mobile Chiller for B39 and B100 GENERAL: The James A. Haley Veterans Hospital (JAHVH) Facilities Management Service (FMS), Maintenance and Operations Team, has identified a critical need for this requirement to ensure uninterrupted climate control in both B39 and B100 buildings. To address this need, the Engineering team proposes the purchase of a Mobile Chiller that offers the flexibility to be deployed at either location as needed. This mobile chiller will serve as a backup to mitigate the risk posed by faulty or broken chillers, ensuring the hospital's climate control system remains operational during repairs to the main chillers. The mobile unit can be rapidly relocated to any building experiencing chiller failure, thereby preventing any disruption in climate control and maintaining a comfortable and safe environment for patients and staff BACKGROUND: With the expansion at JAHVA, the current number of chillers is running at maximum compacity. If one chiller goes down for repairs, it will impact water temperatures to critical levels in areas of the hospital. Causing a major devastation to hospital operations and patient care. Possible relocation of patients.
