SMITHS DETECTION - MAINTENANCE AND REPAIR

This is a public notice prepared in accordance with Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) 5.2 – Synopsis of Proposed Contract Actions. The Library of Congress, Contracts and Grants Directorate, intends to award a sole-source, firm fixed price contract to: Smiths Detection, Inc., 2202 Lakeside Boulevard, Edgewood, MD  21040-1102, USA. The original manufacturer (Smiths Detection) is the only firm authorized to provide maintenance and repair services for the Smiths Detection brand X-Ray scanning system model HI-SCAN 6040i.

The work to be performed under the contract will be performed at the Library’s Packard Campus, 19053 Mount Pony Road, Culpeper, VA 22701. The period of performance of the intended contract shall be: 04/28/2026 through 04/27/2031.

The work shall consist of maintenance and repair services identified in the attached statement of work.

This announcement constitutes the only public notice, proposals are not being requested from other parties, and a written solicitation will not be issued. This public notice accomplishes the following: 1. Notice of the Library of Congress intent to sole source this requirement to the business listed herein; 2. Synopsizing the requirements in accordance with the FAR; and Publicly posting the approved Justification and Approval (J&A) to the public in advance of the contract award rather than after award.
