    Description

SOFTWARE LICENSING OPPORTUNITY FieldSim - Maximize Agricultural Machine Efficiency with Advanced Simulation Modeling  Leverage FieldSim, a cutting-edge agricultural simulation model, to optimize field efficiency and machinery performance without time-consuming field experiments.   Opportunity:   Idaho National Laboratory (INL), managed and operated by Battelle Energy Alliance, LLC (BEA), offers the chance to explore a license and/or collaborative research agreement to commercialize FieldSim. This technology transfer opportunity is part of a dedicated effort to convert government-funded research into job opportunities, businesses, and an improved way of life for the American people. Overview:     FieldSim offers a sophisticated solution for planning field operations as operational efficiency becomes increasingly crucial in agricultural activities. Developed with a Discrete Event Simulation (DES) approach and object-oriented programming, FieldSim provides a rigorous and flexible model for handling various field shapes and equipment characteristics. Description:    The FieldSim is a state-of-the-art simulation model that estimates field efficiency for agricultural machine movement. The model: •    Utilizes a Discrete Event Specification System (DEVS) formalism for equipment movement tracking. •    It is data-driven, spatially, and temporally detailed for accurate field efficiency estimation. •    Offers flexibility and adaptability for various shapes and physical characteristics of fields and equipment. •    Has been tested and validated with an error margin of 15% against empirical data. Benefits:           •    Estimate machinery performance without time-consuming field experiments. •    Make better managerial and technical decisions based on accurate field efficiency data. •    Field shape agnostic modeling approach with superior spatiotemporal resolution. •    More rigorous component behavior definition compared to traditional statistical methods. Applications:    •    Improve the energy efficiency of agriculture equipment. •    Extend the range of autonomous systems (drones, robots, etc.) •    Optimizing field operations planning for agricultural professionals.  •    Enhancing machinery performance in various farming scenarios.  •    Informing agribusiness consulting and advisory services •    Supporting agricultural research and development projects.  Development Status:  Alpha stage: Expert level user required, limited interface.  IP Status:     Copyright in software entitled “FieldSim - Simulation model to estimate field efficiency for agriculture machine movement,” BEA Docket No. CW-23-27.
