General work description:
The Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority (VTA) will be soliciting an Invitation for Bids (IFB) for “Roll-Up Door Replacement for Guadalupe Yard Building A” (Project).
For purposes of this Contract, Work consists of furnishing all labor, materials, tools, equipment, services, supervision, and incidentals necessary to build full scope includes replacement of 8 existing roll-up doors with bi-fold doors in the Guadalupe Light Rail Yard, building A. Modify existing paint compressor shed to allow the swing of the new doors. Full scope is split into three-part bid. The base bid will include the replacement of the 4 doors at tracks #3 and #4 and the compressor shed modifications. Bid option 1 will include the replacement of the two doors at track #7 and bid option 2 will include the replacement of the two doors at track #8.
The Work will be conducted within an operating rail yard and adjacent to and within existing shop facilities. This Work will be subject to restrictions to ensure safety and the continuing operations of the yard and shop and the light rail system.

Bidders must submit bids based on the door manufacturer specified in technical specification section 08 35 00 (Part 2 Products, 2.1 Manufacturer, A.1) - Hydraulic fourfold doors and hydraulic bi-fold/swing doors flat sheeted with catenary cutout. Item 2.1 states that the 'Project design is based on materials and systems of: Electric Power Door, 522 West 27th Street, Hibbing, MN 55746, 800-346-5760, www.electricpowerdoor.com. BIDS SUBMITTED USING ALTERNATE DOOR MANUFACTURER WILL BE REJECTED. This is critical to maintain consistency and level playing field for all bidders/bids.
