Wales Consults on Underground-First Policy for New Power Lines
The Welsh Government is consulting on making underground installation the default for new 11kV–132kV electricity lines, with overhead routes allowed only when they meet planning tests and use lower-impact infrastructure. The proposal could create future demand for cable, civil engineering, and grid-design capabilities, but it is not an enacted requirement or a current solicitation.
