Listing of Standard,
Optional, and Agency forms.
FAR 53.300 is the FAR’s master listing provision for forms that are used in federal acquisitions. It tells users where to find the Standard Forms (SF), Optional Forms (OF), and certain agency forms that the FAR specifically references for procurement and contract administration purposes, and it organizes those forms in numerical sequence. In practice, this section is a roadmap: it does not create substantive contracting requirements by itself, but it points contracting officers, contractors, and other acquisition personnel to the exact forms that must or may be used for actions such as solicitations, bids, awards, bonds, amendments, modifications, architect-engineer qualifications, subcontracting reports, vouchers, wage determinations, preaward surveys, inventory and settlement documents, and commercial product/service orders. It also identifies several agency-specific forms, including Department of Defense security forms and the Department of Labor payroll form, and tells users where to access them. The practical significance is that correct form selection and use affects solicitation validity, award documentation, bond enforceability, payment processing, labor compliance, property disposition, and contract closeout. Because the FAR cross-references these forms throughout other parts of the regulation, this section is essential for knowing which form applies and where to obtain the current version.
